Indonesia is the home of 6 from 7 Sea Turtle species in the world. Those seven species are Leatherback Turtle, Green Turtle, Loggerhead turtle, Flatback turtle, Hawksbill, and Olive Ridley Turtle. Rescue them by becoming Sahabat. Donation can be given from IDR 50,000/month.
Sea Turtle is considered as critically endagered species in IUCN list. Their threats are bycatch, sea and coastal littering, illegal wildlife trade for eggs and meat, dangerous sea exploitaion, and climate change. Only 1 from 1000 turtle can survive and grow to maturity.
Sea Turtle Distinctions
Sea Turtle is water reptiles which can breathe with lungs and live in the sea. Sea Turtle babies are called as 'tukik' or hatchlings, their shell is calles as carapace and their sternum is called as plastron. Leatherblack Turtle is the biggest turtle which can dive the deepest, swim the fastest, and run a voyage the longest. Once they lay eggs, a female Sea Turtle will lay 50-150 eggs accordingly to their species. Sea Turtle has the ability to survive for more than 100 years, depends on the species. Sea Turtle is a though traveler for they can swim across the ocean for thousands of kilometers, a Leatherblack Turtle can even cross the Pacific Ocean.
